NCPTA AWARDS PRESENTATION
30 April 2008
Lancaster House, in central London, provided the magnificent setting for the NCPTA Awards Presentation 2008. The twelve Gold Star Reward finalists and six LEAPP (Learning, Education and Parental Partnership) Award winners, were represented by pupils, parents, governors and teaching staff, who were all given the opportunity to talk to Jim Knight MP, Minister of State for Schools and Learners, about their successful projects.
Our Gold Star and LEAPP guests were joined by the Awards Judging Panel plus representatives from many key educational organisations and NCPTA stakeholders including the Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF), the National Governors' Association, Charity Commission Direct, National Association of Head Teachers, Association of School and College Leaders, General Teaching Council for England and the Association of Teachers and Lecturers.
Whilst the LEAPP winners knew in advance that they were to be the recipient of a £1,000 grant to be used as start-up funding for a project aimed at involving more parents in their children's education, the Gold Star winners, were announced at the event.
Both Gold Star and LEAPP winners, received their trophies, cheques and certificates from Jim Knight who said "The NCPTA Rewards and Awards are an important and lasting recognition to the individuals who have worked hard to promote diverse and innoative ways to get parents involved in learning and education. Sincere congratulations to all the winners and finalists and all those involved in their projects."
