Registration pack - Eng & Wales

In England and Wales, it is a legal requirement for PTAs with an annual income in excess of £5,000 to register as a charity with the Charity Commission.

In conjunction with the Charity Commission for England & Wales, the NCPTA offers its members fast track charity registration. This is only available to members who have adopted the NCPTA model constitution, which has recently been revised to incorporate the changes to the Charities Act 2006. If you want to register using your exisiting constitution, contact the Charity Commission on 0845 300 0218, to discuss.

It is important that you read the NCPTA Information sheet Charity registration - England and Wales before you start the registration process as this explains both the Charity Commission's online application for registration service and the more traditional registration system using hard-copy documents.  All the documents needed to apply for charitable status by either method, can be accesed by following the links below. If you are making a paper application, the Application for registration form (CC5a), should be returned to the Charity Commission with a signed copy of the model constitution, a completed trustee declaration form plus evidence of income. All documents should be sent to: Charity Commission Direct, PO Box 1227, Liverpool, L69 3UG
