About Us

The National Confederation of Parent Teacher Associations (NCPTA) is a national charity representing over 13,000 PTAs across England, Wales and Northern Ireland.

The NCPTA's charitable objects are:

To advance education by encouraging the fullest co-operation between home and school, education authorities, central government and all other interested parties and bodies.

To fulfill these objects the NCPTA has developed six key strategic objectives:

  1. To maintain and expand the quality and range of PTA support
  2. To achieve high levels of service for exisiting and new members
  3. To increase the number of PTAs in membership
  4. To expand NCPTA's knowledge available to members and of members' views and opinions
  5. To be the voice of parents in education
  6. To increase the Charity's profile amongst its key audiences

The NCPTA is both a company limited by guarantee and a registered charity and is, at its heart, a membership organisation which exists to serve its members by providing support and guidance and practical resources for PTAs.  A team of seven Head Office based staff and eleven field based staff are led by the NCPTA's Chief Executive David Butler. The Charity governs itself in accordance with its memorandum and articles of association, which were last reviewed in December 2003.
