About Us

The National Confederation of Parent Teacher Associations (NCPTA) is a national charity representing over 13,000 PTAs across England, Wales and Northern Ireland.

Our charitable objects are:

To advance education by encouraging the fullest co-operation between home and school, education authorities, central government and all other interested parties and bodies.

To fulfill these objects the NCPTA has three key strategic objectives for the period 2008 - 2010:-

• to seek a significant growth in the number of PTAs in membership
• to maintain the quality and range of member support services and benefits; to ensure a high level of service is continued
• to promote parent and school partnerships, to encourage parental involvement in school life    

The NCPTA is both a company limited by guarantee and a registered charity and is, at its heart, a membership organisation which exists to serve its members by providing support, guidance and practical resources for PTAs.  A team of seven Head Office based staff and eleven field based staff are led by the NCPTA's Chief Executive, David Butler. The Charity governs itself in accordance with its memorandum and articles of association, which were last reviewed in December 2003.
